Hong Kong Convicts Thirty-Five For Pollution

Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Department reports there were thirty-five convictions recorded in July for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

According to a statement from the Environmental Protection Department, twenty-two of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, nine under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, and two under the Noise Control Ordinance and the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, respectively.

The heaviest fine in July was HK$40,000, assessed against an unnamed company which imported controlled waste without a permit.
