The China Environmental Culture Promotion Association has released the Chinese Public's Environment and Inhabitant Livelihood Index 2007, which shows that Chinese people are mostly concerned with food safety and are most dissatisfied with air pollution.

The report shows that the general score for environmental awareness is 42.1 points, for environmental behavior is 36.6 points and for environmental satisfaction is 44.7 points. According to the Index, none of these ratings are considered good.

The investigation shows that pollution has brought serious effects on people's living. 60.7% of the public say they are concerned about food safety and 25.8% say they are angry with the air quality. Among the nine major hot issues under survey, the public are concerned most about the price of goods, followed by environmental pollution and social security.

By referring to Environment and Inhabitant Livelihood Index 2007, CECPA also released its two themes for 2008: environmental protection and ecological civilization.
