Unlike previous years when incandescent light bulbs was used, this year's Sun Island Snow Carving Festival in Harbin is using LED energy saving lighting.

Some of the scenic areas, including Welcome Guests from All Over the World with a Smile, Santa Claus Village, and Lapulan Town, have adopted LED environment-friendly lights. This has the added advantage of making the color of light purer and more adjustable.

This year only some of the scenic areas of the Snow Carving Festival are using LED lights. It is expected that the environment-friendly lights will be used in all areas for next year's event once they have have been proved o meet the requirements for energy saving and creating the desired effects.
