DuPont Expands Solar Power Projects In China

02 September 2009 by editor | Print Print | Email Email

America-based DuPont is expanding its solar power projects in Hong Kong and Shenzhen with an investment of USD160 million.

Douglas W. Muzyka, the president of DuPont Greater China, told local media that DuPont is discussing with several companies in Hong Kong to bring DuPont's solar power programs to Hong Kong. In addition, the company will replace the glass curtain-walls of selected buildings in Shenzhen with thin film solar cells, and display the company's solar power products in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

DuPont Solar Power Company is said to be the first cooperation program introduced by Hong Kong SAR and Shenzhen Municipal Government. The company has had a solar power research center in the Shatian Science Park and will have a factory in Shenzhen which Muzyka disclosed would be put into operation in November 2009.

DuPont has estimated that the annual production from their Shenzhen factory would reach USD200 when it is in full operation.
