For the third year in a row, Motorola employees around the world took a half day off to volunteer in their communities on the Global Day of Service.

Themed "Green & Global", this year's event engaged 10,000 Motorola employees in 45 countries and emphasized the company's commitment to environmental sustainability.

More than 3,500 Chinese Motorola employees took part in the initiative. Gao Ruibin, the president of Motorola China, said that Motorola is dedicated to be a good corporate citizen in China, satisfying customers and consumers' needs with its innovative products, technologies and services, abiding by business norms, concerning environmental protection and sustainable development, and pursuing diversified corporate culture.

"Our 3,500 Chinese employees in seven cities will throw themselves in 30 environmental and public welfare programs in this year's Global Day of Service." Gao said. The seven cities are Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Tianjin.

The Global Day of Service is organized by Motorola volunteers with the Motorola Foundation, which was set up in 1953.
