China's Crystal Group Converts To Biomass And Reduces Carbon Emissions

10 September 2010 by GreenChinaTech.com Editor

Honeywell Building Solutions has announced that it has signed an energy savings performance contract with Dongguan Crystal Textile to help the Chinese company reduce the energy consumed in its manufacturing process.

Under the agreement, Honeywell will help Crystal convert its boilers from coal to an environmentally-friendlier biomass feedstock. The company's existing air compressor system will be upgraded to provide electricity savings of 18% a year. In addition Honeywell will provide its energy management system for Crystal to help manage its overall energy profile.

Honeywell estimates that through its technologies, solutions and services, Crystal will be able to its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 13,000 metric tons over five years — the equivalent of removing 2,700 cars from the roads.

The company expects to save a total of RMB12 million and 3,700 tons of standard coal over the same five-year period.
