Students Head To Yunnan For Green Toilet Construction

30 July 2013 by GreenChinaTech.com Editor

New green toilets in southern China are helping villagers recycle their waste for use in their agricultural production.

Students from Taiwan's National Cheng Kung University traveled to Jinhe Village, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan, with a mission to be involved in a community development project by constructing environmental-friendly toilets.

During their two-week stay at the village, the students built ten toilets for the rural households.

Under the guidance of the local construction workers, the students learned to dig, move bricks and cement, lay the bricks and paste. Natural fertilizer is now produced by these new bathrooms, and villagers can use the fertilizer in their fields.

In addition, the students served as tutors for the elementary students at the village.

Before departure for the village, the students received more than 40 hours of training including communication and management skills.
